Dam Bathymetric Surveys
Bown Basin, Central Queensland
Project Scope: Ongoing bathymetric surveying and spatial integration for the Kestrel Coal water-infrastructure program, providing a reliable high-resolution monitoring pathway to manage storage capacity and operational performance across multiple mine-site dams.
Client: Kestral Coal Pty Ltd
Project Duration: 2025–Ongoing
As part of ongoing water‑infrastructure management at the Kestrel Coal operations, Murray & Associates commenced a program of bathymetric surveys across multiple dams in 2025. The work supports the mine’s long‑term monitoring of storage capacity, sedimentation and operational performance, providing accurate underwater data for critical water assets across the site.
The project is being delivered as an ongoing surveying program, utilising specialised bathymetric equipment to capture detailed depth profiles and integrate them with surface‑level spatial information. The resulting datasets give Kestrel Coal a reliable, high‑resolution understanding of dam conditions, supporting compliance, operational planning and informed decision‑making across the mine’s water network.
